JAZZIE GEOFF – A MODERN DAY JAZZ MESSENGER
Jazzie Geoff is a DJ, collector and connoisseur of great jazz music from around the world. He began collecting records over 30 years ago and now boasts a collection of vinyl which is both specialist and eclectic at the same time – everything from the classics to rare and sought after cuts, re-issues and other gems from the annals of jazz history.
Geoffrey enjoys his music on his bespoke hi-fi which has also taken years in the acquisition and tweaking of, until he has found his perfect sound. His passion has cost him thousands of pounds over the years! He knows all the London based jazz outlet owners on personal terms, and continues happily to purchase his beloved vinyl, seeking out only the best where ever he goes, regardless of price.
He has enjoyed residencies at Charlie Wright’s and Ruby’s in London and also spreads his message at other one-off events. For that’s the way he sees it: he’s not merely spinning a few tunes to pass the time – Geoffrey is deeply passionate about his pursuit and connects with the music in such a way that is quite extraordinary.
Talking with Geoffrey, one soon realises he is not just a fan of jazz music – he’s an authority. He can relay stories about artists and give background to certain recordings almost as if he were there when it happened.
